ArchivalResource

Poetical miscellany and album [manuscript], 1832-1836.

Contains prose and poetry, much of the latter selected from Byron; also many original verses of little merit, some perhaps written by the compiler, others contributed by friends. One poem (understandably unsigned) is "Shakespeare's letter to Miss Anne Hathaway, afterwards his wife, written a short time before their marriage." The signatures of a number of Elizabethans are traced. The volume is embellished with numerous watercolor and pencil drawings and other pictures and decorations. Two of the contributed poems were written at Colchester, and several are dated, 1832-1836.

84 leaves (a few blank) ; 20 x 16 cm.
